As I close in on the Commercial minimum time of 250 hours, it has become necessary to shift my focus towards that goal. I became aware that my training time was being spent at a job and every day that I am not moving towards another certification or rating is another day of seniority lost at an airline. Barring any major life events, my last day as a RN was November 1st.
The Ruff-Air Mooney has been getting a workout this month. I have flown nearly every other day and have added 28 hours bringing my total to 203!! We have visited distant friends and family, I have gotten gifts to family on short notice and completed my first Pilots and Paws mission. The convenience of being able to spend a day visiting without needing to make extensive travel plans and experiencing the joy and support from everyone has been amazing!
My last flight was quite the milestone for a couple of reasons. It was the first Pilots and Paws mission, it was the longest distance flown in one day, and I crossed the 200 hour mark! After putting the airplane back in the hangar, I realized that I spent 8.5 hours flying that day. It gave me a feeling of accomplishment and it felt so good to help out.
I’m setting up to finish Instrument rating and Commercial certificate in addition to finishing strong in my Aviation classes. I’ve also taken steps towards becoming a flight instructor and more volunteering. This will be a productive month!!
